In the Woods... From their groundbreaking avant-garde black metal beginnings in the 1990s to the richly melodic sound of Otra, In The Woods… have continually reinvented themselves while remaining one of Norways most distinctive and visionary metal bands. The album of the 90s pushed boundaries of extreme metal and helped positioning the band as pioneers of avant-garde metal leading to a 15 year hiatus in 2000. Following their return to the scene in 2014 the band moved away from the rawer and more experimental approach of the early years. Albums such as Pure, Cease the Day and Diversum emphasized stronger melodies, gothic sensibilities and progressive metal influences while still incorporating elements of black and doom metal. With Otra, the band has refined its modern identity into its most cohesive form yet. With a more focused and mature band, combining the melodic richness of progressive and gothic metal with echoes of the bands extreme-metal roots - In the Woods… in its strongest form yet. Praised by fans for their atmospheric, emotionally charged performances, In the Woods… deliver immersive live shows that balance progressive sophistications with black metal intensity. Seamlessly blending haunting melodies, dynamic vocals, heavy guitars, and a immense rhythm section, the band creates a captivating concert experience that resonates long after the final note… From Kristiansand, Norway. Uniqueness and difference are key words that can describe the band. The lineup consist of Martin on bass, Bjørnar on guitar, Jorunn sings, and Yngve hits the drums. Live we have Anders on guitar. The band doesn't play live very often, they value practicing and spending time together, make music through human interaction.
